Peter’s Rockin’ Ear
Mom’s Choice Award: Gold Recipient

Inspired by the true story of Peter Dankelson and the Pete’s Diary mission to amplify self-acceptance. This picture book encourages everyone to embrace their own differences. Perfect for children ages 3-7 and rock enthusiasts everywhere.
5-Star Review from Readers’ Favorite
It was a humbling experience to discover that Dede based the story on Peter Dankelson, her eldest son, who was diagnosed with Goldenhar syndrome. Dankelson is a talented musician and the lifeline behind this inspirational book. Dede astutely highlighted Peter’s struggles as he tried to fit in with his peers. In Chatterjee’s illustrations, the facial expressions and body language were so lifelike that I could read every emotion the characters felt. Peter’s Rockin’ Ear is an empowering book that will teach the young audience the value of self-acceptance. – Shrabastee Chakraborty, Readers’ Favorite

I pre-ordered this book when I saw it’s highlights. Now that I have it, wow, I love it. It contains elements of compassion, acceptance, music, family, and my favorite, dog-love! Highly recommended for music enthusiasts and for all of us who have struggled to feel comfortable in our own skin. Great read, text flows nicely against the vibrant illustrations.

This is such an inspiring story. Helps kids understand what it can feel like to be different and how to overcome those differences.
This is a great read for any child to help learn to overcome adversity and see the beauty of standing out.

A wonderful and energetic story about embracing one’s uniqueness and specialness! This is a sensitive and beautiful story for all kids, parents, and teachers alike. I loved how Peter truly rocks with courage, self-awareness, acceptance, and resilience. This is a valuable story about inclusion and embraces Craniofacial awareness and education. I also love the colorful illustrations, the touches of humor, and the addition of Peter’s adorable dog, Angus!
