    Karen Olson – June 14, 2022

Helping children to become aware of the plight of homeless animals is a subject I feel is important to address. I love that the author added the lesser known aspect of pilots who transport these animals to shelters. “Halfway Home” is a short story but the message of how poor Zeke feels as he’s sitting at the shelter while the other dogs are adopted will be clear to young kids. The illustrations further portray Zeke’s feelings of sadness, loneliness and then happiness and love.

Engaging rescue story about Zeke (and he is adorable!) and a dedicated group of animal rescue flight services volunteers. Children will love this story about hope and never giving up, with it’s fun writing (Footsteps sounded STEP! STOMP! SQUEAK!) and captivating illustrations!

I ordered this book for my daughter who loves dogs more than anything. We have a neighbor who heads a local rescue and they’ve become close. This book creates a narrative for her to realize how possible and how far your heart and your compassion can take you! We love it! Well written, wonderful storyline and cool that air rescue was involved as we are an aviation family! Great book, ordered two in order to donate one to our elementary school. And may I just add, I LOVE Maeve’s tattoos! ❤️

Thank you Jessica! We love hearing how you and your family connect with this story.

How can you not love Zekie Bubbles?! I was rooting for him with every page that he would find his perfect forever home. I bought this for my son who is obsessed with dogs and the aviation additions was an added bonus for both of us. We ended up learning more about animal rescues from this book which has sparked many great conversations and google searches! It is really well written, the illustrations are fantastic and it’s fun and sweet. I would highly recommend this heartwarming story!

    Shel Curry – August 13, 2022

My littles ones love dogs and have been begging me for years to add one to our family. So when we read Halfway Home by Erin Murphy, they were excited to learn about Zeke, rescued with his doggie brothers from an abandoned house by a loving and caring volunteer. A very special kind of dog looking for a happy home, Zelda was often overlooked. This story provides the best overview of what it means to rescue, adopt, and fall in love with a furry friend. Dogs have feelings too, and they want to feel safe and loved by their forever family. Get ready to have you heart touched, a smile on your face, and some happy tears form when reading Halfway Home. It’s a special story penned by author and animal rescue flight volunteer Erin, compete with lovely illustrations and unique nods to her international pilot experience. My kids Sophie and Ethan loved this story. And of course, they still want a dog. ❤️

    Daelyn – August 18, 2022

This is a common tail (aka tale) about how patience and love from a perfect stranger can absolutely change the trajectory of your dogs life. And, how the immense efforts behind every life saving animal rescue – not only change the animals lives, but also the rescuers. Undoubtedly, these humans work tirelessly to coordinate all their efforts for this one noble cause.
Zeke is the most special boy. You see, he’s my girls (Trudy!) best friend. And together, they helped one another overcome their daily anxieties, and come out of their shells.
This is a true and accurate story of the life long efforts of animal rescue workers, and the furry animals who are just waiting to share their love with their furever families (thanks to all the volunteers).

This is the first book my 2 year old reaches for. He loves seeing the airplanes, and how much Zeke has matured since his rescue day. And of course, he loves seeing his dog, Trudy, on the pages too.
Congratulations friends, you both should be exceptionally proud of yourselves!
