Corbin Speaks Bee
Corbin speaks like the bees speak . . . well, kind of. He gets very quiet and notices distinctive secrets no one’s patient enough to see. So when his teacher says they’re going to a local field to observe bees, Corbin can’t wait! Until his classmates all complain and grumble to “squash the bugs”. How can he convince them that bees are anything but boring insects that sting?
Corbin Speaks Bee is a nature-friendly picture book from debut author, Emma Pesis. A valuable resource for teachers to orient the next generation of scientists to the potential of outdoor learning! Great for ages 4-7, this picture book will have kids exploring their backyards and schoolyards in new and exciting ways.

This book is the absolute cutest! Our main character, Corbin, is a special kid: he’s quiet, he’s observant, and he LOVES bees. When the other kids don’t quite see eye-to-eye with him on creepy-crawly critters, Corbin works with his teacher to help his classmates discover all the good that can come from being patient and opening our eyes…and our minds.
Kiddos will love the colorful illustrations with critters and wildflowers galore. This would be the perfect tool for teachers to use on a field trip—or even a little adventure outside to the playground!

This book is a treasure for any adult wanting to explore the outdoors with children. Worried about sharing his excitement and curiosity with his classmates, Corbin is afraid they may not see bees the way he does. With support and guidance from a caring adult, Corbin is able to help his classmates open their eyes and ears, and experience their own sense of wonder in the natural world.

My boys were terrified of bees and other stinging insects when they were young. I love how this book teaches you about bees but also how to overcome fear by educating yourself. Great inspiration for teachers and parents to get outside and discover how amazing our world is.

Growing up I dearly valued the mentors in my life who encouraged me to show others what I cared most about – a chance to shine in the sunlight.
Corbin Speaks Bee is a story that demonstrates that when you give youngsters an opportunity to share their interests with others, even in the face of uncertainty, they will share all their youthful intuition that speaks volumes.

I love this book! More kids’ books need cool science facts at the end like this one.
The whole “speaks ___” idea is really interesting and a great expression/concept for kids to learn. I wasn’t sure what the title.meant until I read it.
Also the pictures are beautiful and fun/playful

I adore this book! As a 1st-grade teacher, I’m looking forward to sharing this book with my class. I know my students will be captivated by the illustrations, they’ll be curious about what we can learn from bees, and they’ll feel for Corbin in his journey throughout the story. This book would be a great read-aloud on its own or would integrate into any observation-based science lesson beautifully.
